3D PRINTED NANOBATTERIES Researchers at Harvard University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have developed nanobatteries only hundreds of micrometers wide and strong enough to hold the amount on charged required to power a mobile device. Check it out:
TELEPATHY For now, the Emotiv Insight headset can only allow your brain to communicate directly with computers. With the of research this headset can introduce to neuroscience, one wonders if brain to brain communication will be the next step in wireless technologies. Emotiv records the signals in your brain when you think of various events such as click, zoom, or disappear. With new software introduced to the product, users are able to see their brain signals in real time. They've raised over 8x their kickstarter request and have created a truly amazing product. The commercial release date of the E.I. is expected in early 2015. Check it out their Kickstarter here: Emotiv Insight

CARBON NANOTUBES Jack Andraka, a then 15 year old sophmore at North County High School in Maryland, created a new blood test for cancer. Using carbon nanotubes, Jack isolated the antigen specific to a protein developed in the earliest stages of pancreatic cancer. As the selected protein attaches to the antigens in his test strip, the carbon nanotubes covered in the antigen push apart. This physical difference in space between the nano tubes can then be measured as an electric potential difference. Jack set out to create a test which could better detect pancreatic cancer but the idea behind the creation of this strip allows for any antigen / protein pair to be detected. 168 times faster, 26,000 times less expensive and over 400 times more sensitive, you can check out Jack's TED talk here:
